Work experience proves successful for Razzamataz Sheffield teacher
Cristina Carter, known in our school as Nina, has been working at Razzamataz Sheffield for 6 years and at the start of this year was promoted to Assistant Principal. Her journey has been pretty inspiring because at the start of her journey she was a work experience student with us.
I was in my final year at university in Liverpool studying a BA Hons in drama when I heard through a friend about an opportunity with Razzamataz Sheffield,” says Nina. “Helen has supported me throughout my journey with Razzamataz and has really taken on board where my ambitions lay and helped me gain the experience to achieve them.”

Principal Helen has promoted Nina to the assistant Principal role in January, which has allowed her to combine all her learnings, both practically in the classroom and also through working in the office for a number of years.

“Razzamataz has been so varied that the last six years have flown by,” adds Nina. “Getting that experience before you take on the actual role is wonderful for your confidence and allows you to set the bar high, especially when you are shadowing great people and learning from mentors. The life skills that I I’ve acquired have given me a clear direction and I’m enjoying widening my knowledge of the school together with taking on a more pastoral role with the students and parents.”

Nina has already been involved in many of the fantastic additional events that Razzamataz offers. These include the many guest workshops from industry experts, performance opportunities and she is also involved with Helen to develop a new product called Razz Act.

Earlier this year, Nina was also further recognised by the wider Razzamataz family after being awarded ‘Most Outstanding Team Member’ at the Razzamataz annual conference. Helen said, “Nina is invaluable to our school and thoroughly deserved the recognistion of Most Outstanding Team Member. Every student and parent in our school will tell you that she is a shining example of the Razzamataz ethos, cares deeply about our students and has a smile that is infectious! We are all incredibly proud of her.”
