Razzamataz Sheffield students score top marks and boost confidence and life skills.

After what has been a challenging year for all, we are delighted to share our students’ success in recent drama exams. For the first time ever, Razzamataz Sheffield held the prestigious LAMDA exams and out of the 14 students entered, 12 achieved the highest distinction grade and 2 a high merit. What was even more impressive, was the students took the exam remotely over Zoom.
The students were between the ages of nine to sixteen and the younger group performed one monologue and the older group performed two. They were supported by their teachers and worked for months on pace, character, blocking and all things performance. They also had to show a deeper understanding with knowledge questions, where they were quizzed on certain aspects on their chosen piece.
Angela McGarry, mum of student Lucie said: “Thank you so much for this. We are obviously over the moon and extremely proud of Lucie’s results. Thank you all and special thanks to teacher Nina for all the support and encouragement given to Lucie along the way.”

About Razz Act
Razz Act was launched a year ago and we can already see the benefits, especially in light of school closures that have affected many students’ confidence. Drama teaches life skills, communication and tools that will be needed in college and the workforce. Students that take part in Razz Act receive one to one support through very small class sizes. It is a great opportunity to develop their presenting skills after missing out on the usual opportunities such as speaking out in classrooms, reading in lessons or debating with classmates. The LAMDA exams are a recognised qualification with the more advanced grades being awarded UCAS points.
